As our regular Ship Happens! readers will recall, our message forums closed at
the end of June of this year and also at that time we introduced a
new quiz, "Very Vintage QE2" in our Bouillon
Break area.
We intended to begin publishing editorial content on this page during the
summer, but we were called abroad due to the terminal illness and passing of a
member of our immediate family. What was intended to be two weeks abroad turned
into several months, dealing with administrative and family matters. We have
only recently been able to turn our time and attention back to editorial
content.
We apologise to our readers for this delay and hope that we can "make this up"
somewhat to you with the following interesting extracts from Daily Programmes
of Queen Elizabeth 2 on a transatlantic voyage in 1974 - over 30 years ago!
El Capitan's father travelled on this voyage but we did not know that he had
retained most of his Daily Programmes, which we found after his death. We
believe that this was our father's first and only cruise/liner voyage.
Apparently, he travelled in stateroom number 4190 and we'd be grateful if any
of our readers might be able to tell us where on the ship stateroom 4190 was,
at the time, in 1974 and what grade of accommodation it was. (Please send your
e-mails to our usual e-mail address: elcapitan@ship-happens.co.uk).
The voyage from 27th October to 4th November was from Southampton to New York
via Cherbourg. QE2's Captain was Mortimer Hehir, and the Cruise Director was
John Butt. Click here to see a list of the other
senior crew members. Do your remember meeting any of the
crew members, or were YOU a crew member on QE2?
Now, on to the Daily Programmes. Click on each link to see each of the Daily
Programmes for the voyage (high resolution download). The Daily Programmes for
Saturday, 2nd and Sunday 3rd November are missing and are presumed lost.
